Alba shines: new light for the sculpture in Piazza Michele Ferrero
Friday, April 4, was a special evening for the city of Alba: on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition “More than kids” by Valerio Berruti at the Ferrero Foundation, in Piazza Michele Ferrero, the new lights that illuminate the Alba sculpture were turned on for the first time.
The 12-meter-high iron sculpture, donated to the city by the Ferrero family, is now a symbol of Alba and can now shine even at night thanks to custom-designed lighting. The project, created by Luigi Scaglia, uses latest-generation headlights capable of “sewing” the light onto the statue, creating a suggestive and unique effect.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration between the City of Alba, Gobo Service, the Association of Alba Merchants and Banca d’Alba. The Mayor commented enthusiastically: “We wanted to enhance this sculpture in the best possible way, following the advice of Valerio Berruti. Now “Alba” will be able to shine even at night, just as it already does under the sun”.
“Piazza Michele Ferrero is a point of reference for the city, and this new lighting will make it even more beautiful and recognizable” says the Director of the Association of Alba Merchants, underlining the importance of the project. The President of Banca d’Alba is of the same opinion: “We are happy to contribute to making this square even more special, which bears such a significant name for our community”.
Alba once again demonstrates that it knows how to recognize and celebrate the talent of one of its most beloved artists. For once, nemo profeta in patria non vale: Valerio Berruti is an excellence that his city appreciates and supports with pride.
