Miart 2025: Solo Exhibition of Franco Guerzoni

This year, the Marcorossi Artecontemporanea Gallery renews its presence at Miart, the prestigious modern and contemporary art fair in Milan, with a monographic exhibition dedicated to Franco Guerzoni. The exhibition project, titled “Franco Guerzoni, The Forgotten Wall. Works from 1990 to 2015,” presents a selection of pieces from a particularly significant period in the career of the Modena-born artist.
Franco Guerzoni: An Inquiry into Memory and Time
Franco Guerzoni (Modena, 1948) is an artist who has skillfully intertwined pictorial language with archaeological research, creating works that explore the concepts of stratification, memory, and ruin. His work is characterized by an “archaeology without restoration”—an inquiry that does not aim to reconstruct the past but rather to highlight the traces and marks that time leaves on surfaces. The selected works for Miart 2025 exemplify this poetics. Through pigments and material elements, Guerzoni creates visual landscapes where the wall becomes a surface to be read, a narrative composed of memories and fragments of history. Among the exhibited works are “Archaeology of the Night, 1989-90,” “Piranesi, 2011,” and “Torn Fresco, 2015.”
A Well-Established Presence on the International Scene
With a career marked by significant solo and group exhibitions, Guerzoni has showcased his work in prestigious institutions such as the Venice Biennale, the Museo del Novecento in Milan, the Triennale di Milano, MAMbo in Bologna, and Palazzo Pitti in Florence. His artistic research continues to captivate both audiences and critics, making him a key figure in the contemporary Italian art scene.
