Franco Guerzoni at Miart 2025: A Journey Through Memory and Matter
From April 4 to 6, Milan will once again be the vibrant heart of the art world with Miart 2025, the international fair of modern and contemporary art. Among this year’s most compelling exhibitions is the monographic show by Marcorossi artecontemporanea gallery at stand C91: Franco Guerzoni, The Forgotten Wall. Works from 1990 to 2015.
The Art of Franco Guerzoni: Layers of Memory
Born in Modena in 1948, Franco Guerzoni is an artist who has placed matter and memory at the core of his research. His works, characterized by textured and stratified surfaces, evoke the charm of walls worn by time, creating a kind of “archaeology without restoration.” Rather than didactically bringing the past to light, his work enhances traces, marks, and imperfections that tell forgotten stories.
At Miart, visitors will have the opportunity to admire a selection of works created between 1990 and 2015, a key period in Guerzoni’s career, during which he refined his visual and material language. Through the use of pigments, paper, and raw materials, his canvases become surfaces to explore—spaces where time settles and reveals itself.
