Valerio Berruti is exhibiting at Teagan Space in China

From May 1st to July 20th, 2024, Valerio Berruti’s exhibition, Circulating Sketch, curated by Roxy Y. Tang, will be showcased at the Teagan Space museum in the Pechino district.

Valerio Berruti is inaugurating a solo exhibition in China at the prestigious Teagan Space museum in Youyi Bay, in the Qinhuangdao region of the Pechino district. On display from May 1st to July 20th are site-specific productions ranging from drawing to sculpture and video, using techniques and themes dear to the artist. Circulating Sketch will gather a series of new small-scale drawings exhibited in five different rooms within Teagan Space, a space dedicated to site-specific ceramic productions, and another dedicated to video animations that narrate the artist’s poetics, always linked to childhood. During the exhibition, the facade of the museum space and that of the adjacent building will host two large installations measuring 30×10 meters. Additionally, in the summer, a monumental steel sculpture will be unveiled, permanently placed in the museum’s outdoor spaces.

Valerio Berruti has been working with the Marcorossi artecontemporanea gallery since 2002

Born in Alba in 1977, Valerio Berruti has been collaborating with the Marcorossi Gallery, representing him in Italy, since 2002. The artist uses the ancient technique of fresco, sculpture, and video animation to create essential images inspired by the suspended world of childhood, that moment in life when everything is yet to happen. In 2009, he participated in the 53rd Venice Biennale, where he presented a video animation, with music by Paolo Conte, composed of 600 frescoed drawings. In 2011, his video Kizuna, exhibited at the Pola Museum in Tokyo with the soundtrack specially written by Ryuichi Sakamoto, became a charity project for the reconstruction of Japan after the earthquake devastation. The following year, he won the international Luci d’artista award and created a permanent land art work at the Nirox Foundation in Johannesburg. His animated short film, with music by Ludovico Einaudi, has participated in numerous film festivals. “Nina’s Carousel” is also a monumental sculpture that was exhibited at the MAXXI museum in Rome. On September 29, 2022, his monumental work “Alba” was inaugurated, a bronze and stainless steel sculpture over 12 meters high, a gift from the Ferrero family to the city of Alba, located in the central Piazza Michele Ferrero, dedicated to the entrepreneur from Alba.”
