PAOLO SERRA
1/1

Serra è presente con le sue opere in prestigiose collezioni pubbliche e private all’estero e in Italia: Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Arts Council of Great Britain; Nuffield Foundation, Gran Bretagna; Rembrandt Society, Olanda; National Bank of the Netherlands; Amro Bank, Olanda; Westland Utrecht Bank, Olanda; Galleria d’Arte Moder- na, Bologna; Museum der Stadt Waiblingen, Waiblingen; National Versicherungen, Basilea; Bâloise, Basler Versicherungen, Basilea; UBS AG, Basilea; Banquiers Dreyfus & Cie, Parigi – Basilea.

Paolo Serra was born in 1946 in Morciano di Romagna. The artist undertook an original new study of light, space and form which took years and has led him to create works of pure linearism and fascina- ting chromaticism. The techniques he uses to obtain depth in his work are the product of use of an- cient materials such as oriental lacquer with its hundreds of ultra-thin layers, gold leaf with its precious luminosity, and Titian reds made from cochineal. The artist has also produced abstract works in which he entrusts many of his expressive requirements to chromatic vibrations and to great depth, for his surfaces are only apparently flat and almost monochrome. Serra’s works are included in prestigious public and private collections in Italy and abroad: the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam; the Arts Council of Great Britain; the Nuffield Foundation, also in Great Britain; the Rembrandt Society in the Netherlands; the National Bank, Amro Bank and Westland Utrecht Bank in the Netherlands; Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Bologna; Museum der Stadt Waiblingen in Waiblingen; National Versicherungen in Basel; Bâloise, Basler Versicherungen, Basel; UBS AG, Basel; Banquiers Dreyfus & Cie, Paris - Basel.
